After a string of futuristic singles and a growing list of high-profile accolades, Ninajirachi has unveiled her shimmering new release, ‘iPod Touch’, the latest chapter in her hyper-digital journey toward her long-awaited debut album, I Love My Computer, out on August 8 via NLV Records. Coming off the heels of her viral single ‘All I Am’, which hit #1 Most Played on triple j and entered the ARIA singles chart, Nina’s new track dives deeper into her pixel-perfect universe. Already lauded by Rolling Stone AU/NZ, NME, Billboard, and Anthony Fantano, Ninajirachi’s name has become synonymous with the glitchy, glittering edge of a Gen Z-led electronic revival, with her productions defining the new sound of DIY futurism.
Hailing from Gosford, a regional town in New South Wales, Ninajirachi – real name Nina Wilson – grew up tethered to her computer, using the internet to access a world far beyond her postcode. That digital upbringing remains central to her identity. From her early releases on NLV Records to her critically praised 2022 mixtape Second Nature and the genre-redefining 2024 EP girl EDM, she has consistently championed a maximalist aesthetic blending IDM, hyperpop, electroclash and late-2000s nostalgia. With co-signs from the likes of Porter Robinson and international tours spanning Lollapalooza, Laneway, and EDC, Ninajirachi is catapaulting into the digital sphere and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
‘iPod Touch’ is a love letter to that formative time of discovery, evoking after-school bus rides, early YouTube rabbit holes, and the thrill of finding music that felt like it belonged only to you. Driven by hyper-melodic synths and a sugary beat that flirts with bubblegum and bass, the track reimagines golden-era iTunes aesthetics through a contemporary digital lens. Poignant yet playful, ‘iPod Touch’ is both a nostalgic portal and a perfect teaser for what’s shaping up to be one of the most inventive electronic albums of the year.
“It’s about finding your favourite music when you’re 12 and it cracking your whole world open,” Nina shares. “It sounds like something I would’ve had on my second-gen iPod Touch in 2010, which makes me feel soooooo happy.”
