Parra for Cuva has returned with ‘Selva Selva’, the first single from his upcoming album Nacar, due May 15th. The project continues the trajectory of Nico Demuth’s long-evolving sound: a blend of organic instrumentation, electronic production, and cinematic atmosphere that has carried him from immersive festival spaces like Burning Man to major headline performances at venues such as Drumsheds. This new era promises a deeper exploration of global textures and emotional storytelling, with ‘Selva Selva’, offering a particularly evocative entry point.
The track begins in near stillness: soft, warm analog pads and sparse melodic fragments create an intimate, suspended atmosphere before organic percussion slowly awakens the rhythm. Rather than a dramatic drop, the energy grows gradually – shakers, hand-drum patterns, and pulsing low frequencies layer into a groove that feels alive and kinetic. Midway through, the voice of Maria Kaxinawá rises from the arrangement, introducing traditional Latin vocals that add an earthy emotional depth. The contrast between her ancestral tone and the enveloping electronic textures forms the song’s defining character: a deft fusion of ancient and modern, groundedness and expansion.
What makes ‘Selva Selva’ so compelling is its balance between meditation and movement. It sits comfortably between Organic House and Electronica, yet its pacing feels closer to a cinematic journey than a club or even festival track — evolving through texture, harmony, and subtle rhythmic intensification. By the end, the piece reaches a hypnotic, almost ceremonial state, leaving the impression not of a song heard, but of a landscape experienced.
