Singer-songwriter Sibb recently shared the official music video for his soul-pop single ‘Mine’ via Embassy of Music. This is the first of a cinematic trilogy based on his debut EP, ‘Delusion’. Sibb has established himself as a compelling live act in Germany, performing at venues including Fusion Festival, Kantine am Berghain, Kampnagel Hamburg, and Schwankhalle Bremen. Discovered at the Nürnberg Pop Festival, his momentum led to a collaboration with Berlin-based label Embassy of Music, known for working with international icons like Robyn, Björk, and Moby.

Now based in Bremen, Sibb shifted his sights from engineering to music. Following a mentorship with Trinidadian jazz musician Vaughnnette Bigford, he assumed the stage name Sibb, an acronym for “simple black boy.”

‘Mine’ highlights Sibb’s skill as a vocalist, with him effortlessly switching between smooth tenor and dazzling soprano ranges. The production team aimed for a cautionary vibe in the video by using fairytale villain-inspired costumes and a striking “danger red” aesthetic to highlight the song’s sinister tone. Sibb calls the visual a “vessel” that uses contrast and sharp forms to convey the track’s message and highlight the music’s emotional fluidity. Musically, the track draws inspiration from the vocal power of soul icons like Sylvester and Patti LaBelle.

“The song is a story of coercion,” Sibb explains. “It explores how hypersexuality desensitises the people who embrace it while dehumanising the people they then affect.”
