Rapidly rising UK artist SHERELLE surprise-dropped her debut album WITH A VENGEANCE on April 9th via the Method 808 imprint.
The astonishing 10-track album exclusively features 160bpm bangers, showcasing SHERELLE’s growth and evolution as a producer. The album is a striking amalgamation of the sound SHERELLE has become known for; speedy, hard-hitting and energetic, while drenched with intention and heart. It spans a variety of genres, from Jungle to Breaks, Footwork, Juke, Ghetto House and more, while still powerfully holding its own.
SHERELLE skyrocketed to fame in 2019 for her iconic Boiler Room set which went viral, and cemented her position as a formidable force in the global Jungle, Breakbeat and 160bpm arena.
The album’s lead single ‘FREAKY (JUST MY TYPE)’ featuring George Riley on the vocals, is a cheeky Queer anthem which touches on themes of polyamory and Queer identity. The track kicks off with Jungle-influenced drumwork, before George’s sultry vocals kick in, and the track switches up into a breakbeat extravaganza, while the lyrics outline a fun, seductive narrative filled with temptation and desire.
The title track is four minutes and twenty seven seconds of high voltage energy and artistic prowess. It begins with a siren-like synth, which acts as a poignant call-to-action, immediately stealing the listener’s attention. The commanding vocals are a staggering addition to its production, and adds a sense of warmth and relatability. ‘WITH A VENGEANCE’ evolves into a circus of heaving basslines, volatile, yet precise drumwork, along with masterful builds and breakdowns.
