Japanese electrical powerhouse Pioneer Corp is set to sell its DJ equipment business, which could reportedly command a price tag of around 60 billion Yen (almost £350 million).
Details of the prospective sale are limited, having not yet been made public, however an initial Reuters report claims that Pioneer have enlisted the services of Bank of America Merrill Lynch to facilitate the sale, giving serious credibility to the rumour.
Despite the DJ gear arm of the business turning a profit last year, Pioneer is continuing to sell off various parts of the overall company in order to focus on its automotive electronics production.
Pioneer have been leaders in the DJ equipment game for decades, with products like the CDJ 2000 and DJM range of mixers being favoured by professionals around the world. Hopefully this impending change of ownership won’t lead to a drop-off in the quality of any future products.
