Nxdia – ‘More!’

Make way for Nxdia. The Manchester-based alt-pop provocateur continues their bold streak with More!, a blistering triple single that unpacks gender, identity, and mental health with swagger, heart, and grit. Across the release, Nxdia throws off the shackles of genre with the same abandon that they bring to self-expression: it’s pop-punk, sure, but streaked with glitchy electronics, club energy, and an emotional rawness that refuses to be boxed in.

The opener ‘More!’ is a lightning bolt. Peppy, caustic, and teeming with confidence and unbridled desire, this is the sound of someone who is both liberated and invigorated. The track is a queer pop-punk anthem celebrating the intoxication of new romance. Breathy vocals give way to impassioned belting as inhibition sheds itself like an old skin, while the production strains at its leash beneath the fray, pulsing with raw, kinetic energy. While it is the shortest of the three, ‘More!’ is easily the punchiest.

The atmosphere darkens with ‘Boy Clothes’, the club-ready apex of the trilogy. Nxdia’s smokey, deliberate delivery unravels into feral yells, channeling a playful yet ferocious defiance of gender norms. A dizzying bassline snakes beneath a swaggering beat, building tension before the choruses erupt into full-throttled mayhem. A glitch-laced electronic bridge slips into fever dream territory, distorting reality just as Nxdia distorts expectations, before a warped, slow-motion outro unspools like melting tape.

In the accompanying video, Nxdia dons ‘70s-style suits and tank tops like armor, brandishing axe and guitar alike while queering masculinity with a fire in their eyes. The video’s collage of vignettes underscores the song’s tension: the freedom found in self-expression versus the societal gaze that never quite blinks.

After the potent invigoration of the first two tracks, ‘Feel Anything’ dials down the energy, before detonating it. A track of two minds, it opens with hushed vocals and shadowy, melancholic instrumentation, tracing the isolating fog of depression. Then, like a mood snapping mid-sentence, it spirals into chaos: gritty, fluorescent pop punk collides with manic club rhythms, a sonic whiplash that mirrors the volatile cycle of depression and mania, closing the trilogy in a burst of cathartic, combustible angst.

With roots in Cairo, slipping between worlds has always been second nature to Nxdia, and that fluidity pulses through their music: English and Arabic intertwine, punk snarls alongside folk, swagger meets softness, and norms on gender and sexuality fly out the window. These are not just three singles, but a tapestry of comfort, power, and unbothered self-possession. With each track, Nxdia dives deeper into themselves, offering not just catharsis, but connection. More! doesn’t only ask for more – it is more.
