Modular synthesist Clystre drops trailblazing debut album Arpichelago

German electronic artist, music journalist and radio show host Clystre, unveiled his debut album Arpichelago on 14 February via the Berlin-based imprint Moniker Eggplant

As a synthesizer devotee, Clystre forged the album by drawing influence from early synth pop, psychedelia, various textures of electronica and Krautrock. Across ten evocative tracks, Clystre exhibits an expansive use of synths and rhythm, without compromising on quality. The album is available digitally, and on a two sided 12” vinyl record as seen below.

Clystre has quite a reputation for performing live, and has performed at the Superbooth synth fair in Berlin. His music focuses on intricate details like texture and harmonic motifs instead of tempo changes, allowing the listener to dive into the delicate nuances of his groundbreaking soundscape.

Alongside the album, Clystre also released a poignant music video on YouTube for the track ‘15 Inches of Snow’. The video was created by Heath Metzger, who is known for his work with indie rock band Mock Orange. He created a high octane visual experience featuring drone shots, as well as iPhone and digitized VHS footage from his family archive. The video brilliantly echoes the sentiment of the track through its exciting yet emotive appeal.
