German DJ and producer Oliver Schories has delivered a remix of Portland-based artist FENRA’s ‘CHICAGO’, out now via 6x Records, with an early premiere on esteemed tastemaker When We Dip. The track originates from FENRA’s debut EP Delusional (2025), marking a key moment for producer B Laws as he steps into his electronic project following years performing in touring bands. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Caribou, Four Tet, Floating Points, Bonobo, and DJ Koze, FENRA continues to shape a sound that balances cinematic scope with personal storytelling. Schories, known for acclaimed releases on Stil vor Talent and Get Physical Music, over 140 million Spotify streams, and titanic collaborations including work with Jan Blomqvist, brings his signature melodic and progressive house sensibility to the rework.
On the original ‘CHICAGO’, FENRA leans into a hybrid of footwork energy and cinematic breakbeat, pairing a loose, syncopated rhythm with a sparse but optimistic synth phrase. Airy vocal layers and tactile, organic details create a sense of lift, giving the production an expansive emotional reach without sacrificing its rhythmic edge. For the remix, Oliver Schories shifts the track toward the club, threading in a steady house groove that gradually amplifies tension while preserving the original’s melodic fragility. Oliver shared: “For this remix, I wanted to strip the track back and focus on atmosphere and emotion. The original had a strong energy, so I reinterpreted it as a more restrained, deep house journey that leaves space to breathe and slowly unfold. It’s meant to feel warm, introspective, and timeless.”
