UK artist Fakemink has officially debuted his full-length album, Terrified, marking a significant milestone after gaining considerable online traction. Following the release of his EP, The Boy Who Cried Terrified, earlier this year, Terrified stands out as the true centerpiece of the rising star’s evolving musical journey.
Fakemink’s unique sound is certainly an acquired taste; his heavily altered vocals often feel more digital than human. The production varies from intergalactic soundscapes to bass-heavy chaos – creating an immersive experience reminiscent of a nightclub in outer space. Although the record might seem intense at first, those who dedicate time to listening will find instances where Fakemink’s unconventional flow over the production keeps the experience captivating.
The album, devoid of any featured artists, further emphasizes Fakemink’s distinctive style and lone-wolf mindset, making it challenging to imagine anyone else fitting into this sonic universe.
Released on 22 May 2026, Terrified follows fakemink’s viral success with his provocatively titled mixtape London’s Savior in 2023 and his prolific output of over 50 singles throughout 2024. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, he discussed his creative process, revealing that aside from two sampled tracks, he produced the album entirely from scratch, carefully masking samples akin to his previous work.
Conceptually, Terrified explores a journey from “hell to heaven,” delving into the seven deadly sins through low frequencies and ritualistic drums in its early tracks. The closing track, ‘Etna,’ starkly contrasts this with an ambient soundscape devoid of percussion. In the interview, Fakemink acknowledged the polarizing nature of his music, stating, “I can’t please everyone…”
