London-based singer-songwriter Iris King premieres ‘Somewhere In The Middle’, her new single out today, February 6, 2026. The UK-born artist first turned poetry into songs as a teenager and built early traction, releasing under another moniker and landing tracks on Spotify’s New Music Friday and H&M playlists, while contributing writing and tracks to the Netflix hit show Orphan Black. After stepping out under her own name, King headed to Los Angeles in 2025 to work on a four-track EP with producer Blonder, whose credits include Ryn Weaver and Anna Shoemaker. King and Blonder co-wrote every song, including this second single that channels the same vulnerable alt-pop pull as BANKS, Lorde, and Phoebe Bridgers.
‘Somewhere In The Middle’ zeroes in on the exhausting cycle of a relationship that keeps dragging you back in despite the damage. King lays out the tension with unflinching clarity, capturing that familiar struggle of knowing something hurts yet feeling stuck in the loop. The production keeps things direct, with grungier elements embedded in the bassline and a smoky vocal performance, allowing the lyrics and the song’s message to resonate with the listener’s core. Recorded alongside the rest of the EP in a whirlwind four-day sprint, the track carries the raw energy of that focused, high-pressure session.
Iris King shared: “This song is about a push-and-pull relationship that’s ultimately quite toxic. I feel it’s relatable for a lot of people, and sometimes hard to walk away.”
