On August 25, Deep Forest and Rahul Sharma reemerged with TREE OF TRANQUILITY, an eight-track sonic odyssey that revives the global magic first sparked in their 2013 release, Deep India. At the heart of Deep Forest is Éric Mouquet, who has been warping boundaries since the ’90s by fusing tribal vocal samples with electronic pulse. That vision earned a Grammy for Boheme in 1996 making Deep Forest the first French act to snag the prize – and sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Fast forward to now, and Mouquet’s blueprint still dominates the global-electronica space, drawing 20 million annual streams with his genre-defying sound.
Enter Rahul Sharma, master of the santoor and son of Indian classical titan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. With his signature hammered dulcimer stylings, Sharma has long blurred the lines between raga and global grooves. Their previous link-up proved the chemistry. A decade later, that synergy deepens on TREE OF TRANQUILITY, and will power a full 2025 tour where these tracks will find even bolder shape on stage. Their Live Machine Tour, taking place across the UK and Europe, and kicking off on 25 October in Denmark.
The tour promises an immersive journey, where Deep Forest will merge improvisation, with global influences and electronic soundscapes. The tour includes 14 shows in different cities, and includes stops in Bristol, Dublin, Warsaw, Vienna, Budapest.
On TREE OF TRANQUILITY, Sharma’s santoor flutters through Mouquet’s lush electronic terrain, crafting a meditative yet propulsive rhythm that transcends genre. Nature samples whisper in and out of the mix, with bird calls, wind, and water threaded into expansive ambient beds and glitch-touched loops. Each track is dialed into the emotional push-pull of classical Indian raga forms: slow build, heightened tension, blissful release, all filtered through Mouquet’s meticulous sound design, crafting a world built to escape modernity .
