Powerhouse producer Das Mörtal has just unleashed his remix of alt-pop provocateur I’MMORTAL’s glitch-laden single ‘Uncanny Valley’, arriving today via IMMORTALITY. The release will be accompanied by a bewitching new music video, Supported by a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts. With over 28 million Spotify streams and a catalogue spanning several acclaimed EPs and albums, Das Mörtal has built a formidable reputation in the global electronic scene. He has performed at major festivals including Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME, and MEG Festival, and shared stages with Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut. Opposite him stands I’MMORTAL, the California-born, New York– and London-based artist known for fusing surreal visuals with glitchy, experimental pop. Since debuting in 2023, she has carved a distinct creative lane — a mix of sci-fi camp and emotional intensity — with her music celebrated by DJ Mag Spain, NOTION, EARMILK, CLASH Magazine, and Wonderland Magazine. Her sonic and visual universe reflects her background in classical violin and composition, rendered through an audiovisual lens of synesthetic futurism.
The original ‘Uncanny Valley’ is a chaotic, seductive fever dream. Its prickly trap beat, warped autotune, and eerie sound effects exploring the blurred boundary between human and machine. Das Mörtal’s remix transforms that eerie elegance into a forceful Darksynth odyssey, trading the slinky sensuality of the original for something heavier, more industrial, and unmistakably sinister. Fans of Carpenter Brut, Dav Dralleon, and Perturbator will find familiar thrills in its cinematic density and shadowy pulse.
Speaking on the track, Das Mörtal shared: “Like most remixes I do, I was trying to make it sound as if this could be the original version of the track rather than have the vibe of a remix.”
Visually, the accompanying music video channels both seduction and surrealism. In a stark stage tableau of red and blue light, I’MMORTAL performs with magnetic poise: a pole, towering heels, and sleek visors becoming symbols of control and alienation. As the music fractures into glitch and distortion, her male counterpart’s body morphs and dissolves in a nightmarish sequence of clay and mud, evoking primal transformation. The final image sees I’MMORTAL revealing a face with no eyes, her gaze instead gleaming from her chest, lingering like an electric hallucination: unsettling, beautiful, and perfectly uncanny.
