Icelandic artist Björk has confirmed she is working on a new studio album — her first since 2022’s critically acclaimed Fossora. The forthcoming record will debut in a novel way: as part of an immersive art exhibition titled Echolalia, set to open at the National Gallery of Iceland during the 2026 Reykjavík Arts Festival (opening 30 May 2026).
Echolalia will comprise three installations: two — Ancestress and Sorrowful Soil — draw on previous work, while the third, as yet untitled, will feature music from the new album. Through this blend of sound, visuals, and installation art, the exhibition promises an immersive preview of Björk’s next creative chapter.
For fans of her previous work, this move suggests a continuation of Björk’s tendency to blur boundaries between music, identity, and multimedia art, making this album a multi-sensory experience.
