Hip Hop trio the Beastie Boys are to be honoured with a mural at Paul’s Boutique to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their second album “Paul’s Boutique.”
Sandwich shop “Wolfnights,” where the iconic Lee’s Sportswear once stood back in the 80’s, will play host to the mural which will be designed and painted by NYC artist Danielle Mastrion, whose previous works iconised the likes of Nelson Mandela and Notorious B.I.G.
The project is under the supervision of LeRoy McCarthy who previously campaigned for the area to be renamed “Beastie Boys Square.” The idea was rejected by the community board but there are hopes that the mural may change minds…
