French Kiwi Juice, better known as FKJ, has released his latest EP “Take Off.”
FKJ first made waves on the scene with “The Twins.” Its fusion of soul, funk and techno lead the Parisian producer to become known as a master of creating smooth, seductive beats. Major success followed after with “Lying Together,” his first track to hit the charts. The track was built on a foundation of classic electronic keyboard and layered with soulful crooning.
“Take Off” is FKJ’s latest serving of smooth, polished production. The album contains four tracks and boasts some fantastic collaborations.
“Waiting” features the fabulous Madelyn Grant whose vocals flow beautifully with the warm, swooping bassline. The jazzy guitar flares round the track off with a nice groove and an air of sophistication. “Higher In Love” features FKJ’s trademark funky slap bass which provides the track with a groovy swagger. Damon True’s soulful crooning is the perfect accompaniment, his smooth vocals spread like butter over the beat giving the groove a seductive flow. “Learn To Fly” is driven by a jazzy piano progression and carries more of a gentle, laid back flow to it. This flow is enhanced by Jordan Rakei who gives the track a slight R&B edge with his light, dreamy vocals. The final track is an instrumental, “Open The Door.” Featuring a Nile Rogers esque guitar melody this track creates a playful atmosphere and makes a great outro for this rich, funky album.
“Take Off” was released through Roche Musique and is available now.
