A new report, The Missing Voices of Women in the 2026 GRAMMYs, has revealed a stark gender disparity at this year’s ceremony. Across all 95 categories and 270 awards, female artists accounted for just 23% of wins, marking a 14% drop from 2025.
The report highlights a parallel decline in nominations, with women representing only 24% of all nominees this year, down from 28% the previous year. Over the past decade, female artists have averaged just 21% of GRAMMY wins and nominations annually, illustrating a persistent, invisible glass ceiling in the music industry.
The analysis also notes that the prestigious Producer Of The Year (Non-classical) award has historically excluded women entirely, with no female nominees in 2026 or since the category’s inception 51 years ago. “For every GRAMMY win awarded to a woman, men have picked up four trophies in the last decade,” the report states, underscoring the structural imbalance that continues to shape the awards landscape.
The findings call into question ongoing claims of progress, showing that gender parity in recognition remains a distant goal despite public narratives to the contrary.
