COUCOU CHLOE Sharpens the Edge on Caustic Single ‘VENOM’

London-based producer and vocalist COUCOU CHLOE has returned with a new single, ‘VENOM’, continuing her distinct strain of dark, pop-leaning electronic music. A co-founding member of the Nuxxe collective and label alongside Shygirl and Sega Bodega, COUCOU CHLOE has long occupied the space between club experimentation and avant-pop subversion. Some listeners may also recognize her from her remix of Lady Gaga’s 2020 single ‘Stupid Love’.

‘VENOM’ arrives hazy and heavy-lidded, pairing gritty textures with a low-slung, throbbing bassline. A chirping, 8-bit melody cuts through the mix, lending the track a hypnotic yet comforting quality beneath its murky surface. The result feels both detached and intimate, like a lullaby for emotional burnout.

Lyrically, COUCOU CHLOE drifts through questions of time, mortality, and numbness with disarming bluntness. “What’s time? I don’t know,” she chants with studied lethargy, later adding, “Fuck I might be dead, but I’m here.” References to violence and decay sit alongside moments of existential clarity, delivered in a vocal performance that fades in and out, as if transmitted from somewhere just beyond reach.

The accompanying video for ‘VENOM’, directed by Azar, deepens the track’s eerie atmosphere, placing COUCOU CHLOE in a shadowy visual world that mirrors the song’s sense of dissociation and quiet menace.
