A new chapter in live music safety is set to begin as the Lost Angels Fund prepares to launch next month, with a mission to bring fan care and crowd safety into the heart of nightlife culture.

Founded by social utility app BUDDY, and backed by the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), the Association For Electronic Music (AEFM), the Electronic Music Alliance (EMA) and the Entertainment Services and Technology Association (ESTA), the fund will provide direct support to families impacted by crowd-related tragedies. It will also deliver training programmes and grassroots education initiatives aimed at improving safety at live music events of all sizes.

The announcement follows renewed public attention on the issue after Netflix released Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy, a documentary about the deadly 2021 crowd crush at Travis Scott’s Houston festival.

NTIA CEO Michael Kill called the fund “a forward-thinking initiative” rooted in the real-life experiences of nightlife spaces, from warehouse parties to festival main stages. “Safety isn’t a bonus—it’s essential,” he said. “Let’s raise the bar. Because looking after our communities isn’t just good practice—it’s how we protect the future of night time culture.”

AEFM COO Finlay Johnson echoed the sentiment, adding that the fund represents a critical opportunity to provide “education and resources for electronic music fans,” while pushing for “industry-wide advocacy and awareness” across venues, promoters and artists alike.
