Charli XCX plants her lime green flag at the UK charts summit with remix album

Seemingly unstoppable, Charli XCX’s tectonic impact on 2024’s pop culture zeitgeist is setting in as her sixth studio album brat finally takes the top spot in its 19th week, previously peaking only at number 2. The final ascent was bolstered by the release of remix album brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, featuring collaborations with industry giants on each track including the likes of Ariana Grande, The 1975 and Kesha.

brat also tops the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, the week’s biggest seller on the format, and the Official Record Store Chart, the most-purchased LP of that week in UK independent record shops.

Meanwhile, James Blunt, who promised to legally change his name if a re-release of his 2004 album Back to Bedlam made it to number one, will now not have to be known as Blunty McBluntface. Back to Bedlam originally spent 10 weeks at number one and remains one of the UK’s best-selling albums of all time – but the album’s 20th anniversary edition only made it to number seven in this week’s chart.

Former The Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton is at number two, with Sabrina Carpenter, Coldplay and Chappell Roan also in the top five.
