Tube & Berger talk Sound | Escape Festival, the evolution of their sound and more [Interview]

We caught up with sensational duo Tube & Berger, who are set to perform at Sound | Escape Festival in Austria later this month. The prolific pair are known for their signature take on house, deep house and tech house. Since the release of their breakout hit ‘Imprint of Pleasure’ in 2010, their career has soared, and they’ve performed at some of the most renowned festivals and clubs around the globe. They’ve consistently appeared on Beatport’s Top 10 charts, and have received support from industry giants like Solomun, Sasha and Martin Solveig.

In our exclusive interview with the German duo they reveal what fans can expect from their Sound | Escape Festival set, the evolution of their sound and what else they have in the pipeline for 2025.

You’re gearing up to play at Sound | Escape Festival in Austria at the end of March. It’s a pretty unique electronic festival as it’s free and set in a historic location. What about this festival stood out to you and made you want to be part of it?

We really love the concept of making quality music experiences accessible to everyone. It’s rare to see a free festival with such a strong lineup. The location also completely won us over. Playing in a historic setting in the Austrian Alps is something magical. It’s going to be a special one for sure.

What can fans expect from your set? Do you have any surprises up your sleeves?

We’ll be kicking things off with a vibey opening set. Slowly building the energy and creating a real journey for the crowd. We’re also going to play a few unreleased tracks that no one’s heard yet, and maybe we’ll throw in a little surprise along the way. We like to keep things spontaneous and let the vibe of the moment guide us.

What’s the one item you always keep within arm’s reach while creating or performing?

Fresh fruit to stay healthy 🙂

Are there any sets in particular that you’re looking forward to at Sound | Escape Festival ?

Definitely Sven Väth – he’s a legend and always brings something truly unique. We played at his Cocoon Club back in the day, so we’re happy to connect again. We’ve also heard a lot of great things about Kilimanjaro and are excited to finally catch him live. And of course, we’re looking forward to checking out the other artists as well – it’s always great to discover new artists and connect with the whole lineup.

Your music has a unique blend of deep house, techno, and melodic elements. How has your sound evolved recently?

Over the years, our sound has definitely become harder and more energetic. We’re really into faster BPMs and techier grooves lately, but we still keep that musicality that defines us. It’s all about evolving and staying inspired.

What inspires you outside of music?

Family time is a big source of inspiration – it helps us recharge and keeps us grounded. We also find a lot of inspiration in visual art, also a new one for us: AI-generated images, but also in general photography, and movies. There’s something really powerful about how visual storytelling connects with music emotionally.

Can you give us a sneak peek into what you have planned for the future? Are you working on new projects, albums, or something completely different?

We’re currently working on a new live show concept that blends our music with immersive visual storytelling. We’ve also been diving into AI and exploring how we can use it creatively, especially for visuals and video content. And yes, there are a few exciting collaborations on the way, but we’ll keep those secret for a little longer.
