Ready, Steady, Die! Celebrate International Drag Day with Tender Audio-Visual Project ‘WYSIWYG’ [Premiere]

Ready, Steady, Die! return with their electrifying new single WYSIWYG, out tomorrow with a bold accompanying video. Following the critical success of their 2022 album Accidents and breakout single ‘Settle’, the British-American electronic duo continue to assert their position as genre-bending innovators. Comprised of Morgan Visconti (New York) and Sam K (UK), the pair have built a cult reputation for their emotionally incisive songwriting and unique remote collaboration style, a method that has earned them acclaim across online publications and a steadily growing international fanbase.

Formed across continents but united by a shared cinematic vision, Ready, Steady, Die! specialise in blending brooding electronica with elements of pop-rock, industrial, and new wave. Their sound, characterised by pulsing bass guitars, grungy synths, and emotionally restrained yet piercing vocals, draws comparisons to Portishead and Massive Attack, while maintaining a distinct identity rooted in modern storytelling and bold visual artistry.

Their latest release, WYSIWYG — an acronym for “What You See Is What You Get” — perfectly exemplifies this ethos. Crafted around a concept and script by director Max Clendaniel and DP/writer Matt Riley, the song serves as the score to a surreal and emotive short film, rather than simply existing as a track and accompanying music video. The video follows a man’s quiet transformation from mundane office worker to liberated drag performer, exploring themes of identity, societal expectation, and self-expression with humour and poignancy.

Musically, WYSIWYG delivers a potent blend of cinematic new wave, industrial drums, and a Zeppelin-esque post-chorus climax, with Sam K’s cool yet heartfelt vocals amplifying its core message of survival, duality, and shared humanity.
