PREMIERE: FUNK SYNTH POP BAND SEXPOP RETURN WITH DREAMY SINGLE ‘WHO TO CALL’
Sexpop are back with an exhilarating bang following the success of their 2022 album titled Sexpop 2, and their breakthrough hit ‘Way You Walk’ which garnered millions of listeners worldwide. The band is led by producer and multi-instrumentalist Blaise Eldred who, after relocating to Austin, Texas re-shaped Sexpop into an enticing live band experience.
‘Who To Call’ was entirely self-produced, and will captivate fans of Blood Orange, Leisure and Video Age as it seamlessly integrates pop, funk, psych and dance influences without feeling over-saturated at any point. It’s a whimsical funk-pop offering which perfectly reflects Blaise’s expansion as an artist and producer.
The track addresses the highs and lows experienced in a relationship, but above all still loving the person. Blaise divulges: “’Who To Call’ is about being stuck in a relationship but still having undeniable love for the person and going back and forth with each other within the ups and downs.”
The single illustrates a refined mixture of groove-induced basslines, bountiful synths and silk-like melodies. Its psychedelic undertones transform the single into a gripping yet soothing experience, laced with ear-worm hooks and bouncy rhythms, further solidifying Sexpop’s position as a force to be reckoned with. The band are also set to release a music video for the single in September.
As Sexpop continue to challenge the norms within pop music, ‘Who To Call’ is a valiant step in the right direction as it creates unwavering momentum for this new chapter.
