American singer and internet personality Oliver Tree has died at the age of 32 after a fatal helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday. Authorities said two helicopters collided mid-air over the western part of the city before crashing, killing all six people on board. One of the aircraft came down in a car dealership parking lot, sparking a fire among several parked electric vehicles. Brazilian officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
According to Brazilian police and aviation authorities, Tree was listed as a passenger aboard one of the helicopters. While formal identification procedures were initially ongoing due to the severity of the crash, multiple media outlets and local authorities later confirmed his death. Also reported among the victims were Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, known online as Gaspi, along with several other passengers and the two pilots.
Born Oliver Tree Nickell, the California artist rose to international fame through hits such as ‘Life Goes On,’ ‘Miss You,’ and ‘Alien Boy,’ becoming known for his distinctive visual style and genre-blending music.
Tree was in Brazil as part of his world tour and had recently shared social media posts documenting his first visit to the country. Tributes from fans and fellow artists quickly poured in following news of his death, while aviation investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
