The London Museum is inviting up-and-coming DJs to become part of its new Sound of London Collective, a year-long initiative that will soundtrack the institution’s new late-night event programme when it opens at its new Smithfield site later this year.
The museum is looking to recruit 12 emerging selectors from across London’s 33 boroughs to perform during its after-hours programme, which will transform the venue from a daytime cultural space into a vibrant nighttime destination. The late-night series is set to begin on November 28, coinciding with the museum’s move into its new home in Smithfield, Farringdon.
Applications for the Sound of London Collective are open until August 14, with successful applicants receiving a 12-month contract running through November 2027. DJs will be paid £250 per set and are expected to perform roughly once a month throughout the programme.
Beyond paid performances, the selected DJs will receive a range of professional development opportunities, including professional headshots, dedicated artist development sessions, and collaborative workshops designed to help members of the collective connect and grow their careers. The programme will also feature a welcome workshop led by legendary London reggae DJ, MC and promoter Don “Papa Face” Facey, focusing on the city’s rich soundsystem culture.
The opportunity is open to DJs working across all musical styles, provided they are over 18, have experience performing to live audiences, have the right to work in the UK, and live in one of London’s boroughs.
The initiative is being delivered in partnership with creative studio Hive Curates and British chicken shop chain Morley’s, with performances taking place in Our Time, a new social space housed within the museum’s historic Victorian General Market building.
