Experimental electronic visionary Arca has officially announced her long-awaited new studio album, XXXXX, marking her first full-length release since the acclaimed KICK series concluded in 2021.
The 16-track album is set to arrive on 31 July via XL Recordings, ushering in a new chapter for the Venezuelan producer, composer and multidisciplinary artist. The announcement follows a cryptic global radio takeover on 17 July, during which Arca broadcast a 30-minute project titled Airdoll across multiple international stations, teasing the sonic direction of the forthcoming record.
While no new single has accompanied the announcement, fans won’t have to wait long for a preview. On 23 July, Arca will present Diva.Experimental, a livestream event directed by longtime collaborator Daniel Sannwald with styling by Akeem Smith. Broadcasting from Barcelona, the performance will feature unreleased material from XXXXX and introduce the album’s visual and sonic identity ahead of its release.
XXXXX arrives after a busy period for Arca despite the absence of a solo album. Over the past few years, she has remained active through film scoring, high-profile collaborations and production work, including contributions to Madonna’s forthcoming Confessions II project, remixes for artists such as Robyn, and collaborations with Addison Rae, Hikaru Utada and Tokischa.
