Maverick electronic artist and conceptualist James Ferraro will release Skid Row via Break World Records on November 13th. It will be his first album since 2013’s NYC, HELL 3:00AM.
“I was writing about the state of the world around me,” says Ferraro of his new material, “living on what feels like the brink of societal collapse while also seeing high excess everywhere… all the sounds of the streets crept in… the echoing sirens in the early morning fog, soaked into the poetry and it became evident that LA is a hyper America. a place where violence (media and real life), excess and poverty, police exceptionalism & brutality, racism interact daily.”
Ferraro’s return comes as fellow ‘hypnagogic pop’ (the term coined by The Wire Magazine contributor David Keenan to describe the 2000s wave of lo-fi electronic music) star Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never prepares to release his hotly anticipated new album Garden Of Delete via Warp Records. Looks like we’re in for a warped, weird winter.
