London-based singer-songwriter Iris King makes her official debut under a new name with ‘Heartache, Honey,’ out November 19th, 2025. Though this marks a fresh chapter, King is no newcomer. Her previous projects have earned placements on Spotify’s New Music Friday, song features on BBC America’s Orphan Black, and premieres on Noisey and The Line of Best Fit. Now stepping out on her own terms, she signals a reinvention grounded in emotional clarity and poetic depth, a confident beginning for an artist already well-versed in storytelling.
Iris King began writing at the age of twelve, first drawn to the rhythm of poetry before discovering her voice as a songwriter. Her music sits at the intersection of indie pop and cinematic folk, channeling the wistful intimacy of Phoebe Bridgers, the grounded warmth of Maggie Rogers, and the introspective edge of Lorde. With an ear for melody and a writer’s instinct for detail, King crafts songs that feel both diaristic and universal: portraits of longing rendered in soft light.
Recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year with producer Blonder (known for work with Ryn Weaver and Anna Shoemaker), ‘Heartache, Honey’ is the first taste of a forthcoming EP set for release in 2026. The track captures the ache of what might have been, a slow-burning reflection on missed connections and the bittersweet pull of memory. Over a backdrop of gauzy synths, gentle percussion, and airy guitars, King’s voice rises and folds with delicate restraint. It’s a song about the quiet devastation that follows realization, and the tender strength it takes to sit with that truth.
