Cologne Label Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt has just released his first album under the GAS moniker, in 17 years.
Narkopop consists of 11 unnamed but numbered tracks, and was released on April 21st. The three LP vinyl artbook edition version comes with a CD version of the full album and a vinyl-only bonus cut.
Described by The Guardian as “austere and immersive” Narkopop does not fail to deliver. The abundance of sounds contained within this distinctive EP annexes musical elements from the ambient genre, but there is no doubt that Voight’s ability to musically capture the natural world is responsible for the emotionally eloquent sound which is apparent throughout the album.
