San Francisco psychedelic dub-pop duo Peaking Lights have reworked ‘It’s A Combination’ by Los Angeles duo De Lux (pictured above) into a Moroder-esque disco monster complete with rubberised synth bass, glitter-encrusted synths and robotic 4/4 beats. The Playground has been given an exclusive first listen of the remix. Check it out below and buy the 12″ here.
De Lux are Sean Guerin and Isaac Franzo, two high school friends who share a love of disco/boogie, hiphop, post-punk and krautrock. Their debut album Voyage was released last year and the darker follow-up Generation (partly written on the same sought-after synth guitar once used by Adrian Belew of progressive rock ensemble King Crimson) was released via Innovative Leisure (Tropics, Classixx, BADBADNOTGOOD) in July.
Peaking Lights are husband and wife duo Aaron Coyes and Indra Dunis. Since their debut album Clearvoiant they’ve been blurring the lines between pop, dub and psych to considerable acclaim. Their most recent album Cosmic Logic was released via Weird World in 2014.
