Deezer has revealed that nearly a third of all music uploaded to its platform is now fully generated by artificial intelligence, marking a significant shift in the composition of digital music catalogues. In a new report released this week, the France-based streaming service stated that approximately 30,000 AI-generated tracks are being added to its platform every day; a sharp increase from 10,000 daily uploads recorded in January 2025.
The company also disclosed that up to 70% of streams for these AI-generated tracks have been identified as fraudulent, with Deezer filtering them out of royalty payment calculations. The detection and filtering process is managed through proprietary tools launched earlier this year to combat rising concerns over spam uploads and artificially inflated streaming metrics.
Speaking on the platform’s evolving strategy, Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier outlined how the company is limiting the impact of AI-generated content on the platform’s ecosystem. “Our approach is simple: we remove fully AI-generated content from algorithmic recommendations and we don’t include it in editorial playlists,” Lanternier said. “This way, we ensure the impact on the royalty pool remains minimal while providing a transparent user experience. And most importantly, we continue to fight fraudulent activity, which is the main driver behind uploading fully AI generated content.”
The report arrives amid growing debate around the role of AI in music production, particularly in the context of monetisation, authenticity, and fair artist compensation. An IMS Business Report released earlier this year estimated that 60 million people used AI tools to create music in 2024, signalling a rapidly expanding user base and an urgent need for clearer industry standards.
Deezer has not announced any plans to ban AI-generated content outright but remains focused on limiting its visibility and ensuring fair royalty distribution for human creators. The full report can be accessed via Deezer’s official platform.
