CULTIVATE FESTIVAL RETURNS BIGGER AND BETTER WITH NEW VENUE AND CHASE & STATUS AS HEADLINER

Cultivate is the North East of Scotland’s biggest and most influential electronic music festival. Since it began in 2021 it’s gone from strength to strength, with this year being the largest one yet. Taking place from 21 – 22 September 2024, this edition introduces their new venue at Beach Linx, just a 15 minute walk from the city centre’s Union Street and train station.

This year, there will be three stages including a Big Top Main Stage, multiple bars, art installations, food trucks, a vintage market and a capacity of more than 3000 people per day. The lineup is stacked with stellar artists including Lovefoxy, Parsa Nani and of course the legendary Chase & Status who will headline the Saturday night. Cultivate’s growth has been incredible. What do you think are the key factors to this rapid growth?

Hard graft by the team, working tirelessly to book the highest caliber acts to the North East and deliver a great event for our audience. Some of the biggest DJs in the world have played, and we continue to build on that and the experience.

Moving to a new and bigger venue is exciting, congratulations! Can you tell us about some of the new features or experiences festival goers can look forward to?

Thank you. People can expect an all new, full blown festival experience. A brand new outdoor site; Big Top Tent Main Stage, Container Stage and the Disco Defender stage. Carnival rides, food trucks, cocktail and craft beer bars and more.

With Cultivate breaking new ground in the North East of Scotland, what impact do you hope this year’s festival will have on the region’s electronic music scene?

We have over 50 homegrown DJs and producers performing, who we love giving a platform to play in front of audiences and see them grow. Many Scottish acts have started on the smaller stages at Cultivate, who are now huge international acts, for example Hannah Laing, Ewan McVicar and TestpressOnes to watch this year, who we can easily see hitting those dizzy heights soon are Van Damn, Ronnie Pacitti and Josh Dorey.

This year’s lineup is also set to take the festival to new heights, with world renowned duo Chase & Status announced as the headliner. Booking an act like this is no small feat, why is this so significant for Cultivate?

It puts Cultivate and Aberdeen on the map, attracting major acts such as Ben Hemsley and Chase & Status. Our aim is to be a major festival for Scotland.

Aside from the venue change and super-charged lineup, what sets this year’s Cultivate festival apart from previous instalments?

Aberdeen’s first proper outdoor music festival, something never done before in this part of Scotland.
