Following the release of his Home EP, Electronic Music Producer Cyazon sits down with us to take a closer look at the project’s narrative arc, sonic design, and collaborations. Known for merging Melodic Dubstep with cinematic synth textures, Cyazon has crafted a five-track collection that highlights both his evolving artistry and signature emotive sound. From teaming up with vocalists like Natalie Shay and Ollie Wride to exploring new storytelling depths across each track, Home presents a cohesive body of work that captures Cyazon’s current creative direction.
In this interview, he walks us through the making of each track, reflects on the process, and shares what he’s working on next.
Hi Cyazon, how’s it going?
Hello, doing well thank you!
Let’s start with the title track — how did ‘Home’ first take shape? What made Natalie Shay the right collaborator to bring this centrepiece to life?
When creating ‘Home’ around late 2023, I was heavily inspired by the song ‘What Does Love Mean’ by Nero, and I wanted to create a similar atmosphere, but different in my own way. A lot of the initial phases of producing were finalizing the instrumental and songwriting aspects of it. When finding a vocalist for this song, I thought Natalie Shay’s vocal tone was fitting. My intuition told me she was going to be able to deliver and make ‘Home’ a memorable song.
‘Reach For You’ ft. Snnr was released ahead of the full EP—how did listeners respond to it, and in what ways do you feel it helped introduce or set the tone for the rest of the Home EP?
‘Reach For You’ was released in December 2024. So far, it is the most streamed song on the EP. I feel that the melodic atmosphere of it helped set the expectations for the EP. I think the lyrical narrative of ‘Reach For You’ set up the initial story of the EP, an integral aspect of the project.
‘Lose My Mind’ ft. glasscat is one of the brand-new additions to the EP, having not been released prior. What do you feel this track brings to the overall collection in terms of sound or narrative?
The narrative of ‘Lose My Mind’ is about two characters re-discovering the connection they once had, and as the song title suggests, losing their minds about it. ‘Lose My Mind’ is a continuation of the narrative in ‘Reach For You’, when both of the characters find each other again. I go more in-depth about the Home EP narrative in my YouTube video about the project.
With ‘White Lies,’ what makes this track stand out to you personally and how did you ensure creative synergy when working with Ollie Wride?
I think what makes ‘White Lies’ stand out so much is the main melody and Ollie’s vocal performance. By far, this is the song that listeners really enjoyed the most. When working with Ollie, I wanted to give him creative freedom over recording/producing his vocals. I trusted he was going to give the song a unique touch. Towards the final stages, we were working together on the vocal production, making it sound the best it could — with the vocoder effect we added in the choruses, final vocal mixdown, etc.
‘Wait A While’ feels both spacious and atmospheric, yet grounded in a strong melodic structure. How did you approach achieving that balance—was it something you focused on during the production itself, or did it come together more in the mixing stage?
I focused on the balance in both the production and mixing stages. I achieved that balance by making sure there were two strong melodies, the synth pluck that keeps repeating, and the main lead melody. I made it very spacious and atmospheric by using the right reverbs to achieve that effect and mixing the reverb appropriately so it does not clutter the rest of the instrumentation.
Looking across all the tracks on the EP, can you share one word that you feel symbolises each track and what it represents to you?
‘Reach For You’ – Rediscovery
‘Lose My Mind’ – Passion
‘White Lies’ – Loss
‘Wait A While’ – Longing
‘Home’ – Commitment
You’re a frequent collaborator, often working with like-minded artists across your releases. What do you enjoy most about the collaborative process, and how do you feel it elevates or challenges your creativity as a producer?
When I work with artists or vocalists, I enjoy learning new production techniques and elevating my songwriting skills. One of the main challenges I usually face when working with vocalists is mixing the final vocals and making them work within the song. Their vocals are unique, so I find I have to mix each vocalist differently every time to make it sound the best it can within the song.
Do you find yourself more drawn to releasing singles or full bodies of work like the Home EP—and why?
I enjoy releasing singles and full bodies of work. Each has its purpose. I mainly enjoy releasing full bodies of work because you can tell more of a narrative and create a lot more visual content. I also feel that people are more connected with collections and immerse themselves into the world.
Having completed this project, what’s next for Cyazon?
I have an unreleased collaboration with one of my favorite vocalists who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time. I’m also working on new music material for the rest of this year. I’m currently getting a custom jacket and glasses designed, which will help elevate the Cyazon branding.
As Cyazon continues to shape his sound and grow his creative vision, the Home EP stands as proof of his artistic commitment, seeing him push his creativity forward, refining his style, approach, and technical process. With new music already in the works and fresh ideas on the horizon, he continues to carve an exciting journey, so be sure to keep him on your radar by following him across social media to stay updated on his upcoming releases and projects.
Cyazon’s Home EP is out now and available to stream across all major platforms.
