Founded by Amelie Lens during her residency at Labyrinth Club in Hasselt, EXHALE has grown from a local hotspot into a global platform celebrated for its fearless curatorial vision. Known for uniting DIY warehouse energy with mainstage spectacle, the label has showcased legendary artists such as Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Ellen Allien, Rødhåd, and Kobosil. With showcases in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Paris, and beyond — including major festivals like Awakenings ADE, Creamfields UK, and Tomorrowland — EXHALE continues to elevate both established stars and emerging talent within the techno scene.
Exhale VA007 is a masterclass in dynamic techno curation, spanning thirteen tracks that balance raw energy with nuanced atmosphere. Lens opens the compilation with ‘Activate’, a track that delivers her signature relentless kickdrum, trance-infused arpeggios, and a colossal drop designed for peak-time impact. Italian producer Flour follows with the driving and melodic ‘Love It’, praised for its earworm quality. Other highlights include Blondex’s dark and trancey ‘Zor’, FLKN’s punk-tinged hard techno on ‘The Light’, and AISHA’s euphoric nod to ’90s euro dance with ‘Pill Crusher’.
The compilation also spotlights newcomers like Palestinian artist Jomaa with the deeply emotive ‘Free Bird’, and French producer Carla Schmitt’s sensual ‘Look At Me’. Rounding out the release, Lawyn’s dramatic closer ‘Nami’ combines gothic melodies with driving techno intensity, perfectly encapsulating the forward momentum and raw spirit of the EXHALE universe.
Exhale VA007 stands as a testament to Amelie Lens’s visionary leadership and the vibrant community she has cultivated — a techno family poised for continued innovation and explosive growth well beyond its fifth birthday.
