Deezer has announced a new toggle giving listeners greater control by allowing them to filter out fully AI-generated music from search results. Announced on October 13, the feature builds on the platform’s ongoing initiatives to identify AI content, enhance transparency, and combat streaming fraud.
According to Deezer, the global setting will roll out before the end of 2026. When enabled, it removes fully AI-generated tracks, albums, and artists from search results, though users can toggle it off anytime. The filter specifically targets content created entirely by generative AI, rather than human-made tracks with limited AI assistance.
The shift comes as AI-generated uploads surge, with Deezer receiving nearly 90,000 fully AI-created tracks daily, over half of peak daily deliveries in June 2026. Using AI-detection technology developed since January 2025, Deezer excluded over 42 million AI tracks from recommendations through August 2026 and tagged more than 14 million albums. CEO Alexis Lanternier noted strong listener demand for filtering options, supported by a November 2025 Ipsos survey of 9,000 users across eight countries where 45% wanted to exclude AI music and 80% favoured clear labelling.
Deezer’s update follows broader industry debates over AI-generated music, with platforms adopting varied approaches: Bandcamp banned AI content, Tidal restricted its monetisation, and Spotify introduced disclosure measures.
