Irish producer, songwriter and former BROCKHAMPTON member Ciarán, previously known as Bearface, has officially launched his solo career with the release of his debut single, “K-Bar” via Ninja Tune.
The track marks Ciarán’s first official release since BROCKHAMPTON disbanded in 2022, opening a new creative chapter under his own name. Released alongside an accompanying music video, “K-Bar” showcases a darker, more experimental sonic direction while retaining the emotional songwriting that made Bearface one of the collective’s standout voices.
“K-Bar” begins with a surge of blown-out distortion before settling into a hypnotic groove built around warped synthesisers, weighty basslines and clipped percussion. Ciarán’s understated vocal delivery sits at the centre of the production, creating an intimate yet atmospheric listening experience that signals a deliberate departure from his previous work.
The release follows weeks of speculation after the artist unveiled a new website and hinted at fresh material, sparking widespread excitement among fans. Announcing the transition from Bearface to Ciarán, posts across social media amassed hundreds of thousands of views and generated tens of thousands of comments and shares as listeners welcomed news of his return.
In a message shared through his website, Ciarán thanked fans for their patience throughout his absence.
“I really and truly appreciate every single person who has remained excited at even the prospect of me coming back and releasing something. It’s been an extensive and intentional process and I hope you can enjoy the music (and the process of that which it comes) with an open heart and I hope it can become something that you could see yourself living with for a long while.”
“I’d rather wait and take my time than just put something out because of any sort of perceived pressures from anyone else,” he explained.
To celebrate the release, Ciarán will play his debut solo live performance at Christ & St. Stephen’s Church in New York City on August 6. The intimate show sold out almost immediately, highlighting the anticipation surrounding his first project as a solo artist.
