Jeff Mills, a key figure in Detroit techno and founding member of Underground Resistance, delivered an electrifying performance at the Sydney Opera House on 22 May 2026. Known as “The Wizard,” Mills showcased his remarkable vinyl mixing skills, spinning over 200 tracks, including many of his own innovative creations fresh from the studio.
“I knew I wanted to make the audience scream,” he shared about his ambitious approach. Among his iconic works, ‘The Bells,’ created in just hours, continues to resonate with fans.
Mills last visited Australia with his “Tomorrow Comes The Harvest” project in 2024 and previously performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2016. Emphasising the artistry of DJing, he likened it to sports, requiring acute mental awareness.
While the Liquid Room Mix was initially released on CD and cassette, it is now officially available digitally, further solidifying Mills‘ legendary status in the techno scene. The Vivid LIVE festival runs through June 13, celebrating contemporary music and culture in collaboration with the New South Wales government and local organisations.
