International electronic collective under:tones return with their second single of the year, ‘Crossroads’, released September 26th. Following their debut single ‘Dreaming (Wide Awake)’, which also marked the official launch of Through The Void Records, the track opens another chapter in the duo’s forthcoming album Encounters, the follow-up to their self-titled 2021 debut. Founded by Alex Neri (Planet Funk) and Matteo Zarcone, the project has already attracted attention for its expansive sonic vision, while their label positions itself as a home for music that puts art before market logic.
Conceived and produced across Los Angeles, Florence, and London, under:tones thrive in the in-between spaces. Their sound is a collision of worlds: the psychedelic haze of Tame Impala, the widescreen shimmer of Empire of the Sun, and the groove-laden textures of Mura Masa, yet threaded together into something distinctly their own. Between them, Neri and Zarcone bring the assured craft of seasoned producers and the restless energy of explorers, creating music that translates equally well from dimly lit clubs to sunrise festival stages.
‘Crossroads’ distills that balance into a glowing instrumental anthem. Shimmering synth pads and tightly wound percussion unravel into sweeping melodic arcs, with a lead line that slips and rises through the track like light bending across a horizon. It is a song of contrasts: expansive yet intimate, euphoric yet reflective; it evokes the collective high of the dancefloor while still resonating in solitary headphone moments.
“With ‘Crossroads’ we wanted to capture that exact moment when anticipation and release meet on the dancefloor,” the duo explain. “It is about energy, light, and the feeling of being connected to something bigger than yourself—whether at sunrise, in front of a massive crowd, or lost in your own headphones.”
