Electronic duo Impure have just released Connect – an 80’s inspired synth wave EP, masterminded by Kachina’s Rob Sparx and Ini Edwards. The EP is sure to strike a nostalgic chord with fans of 80’s synth pop 90’s leftfield dance music. We chatted to them in the wake of their release for some insight into the project.

Childish Gambino – soulful vibes, Prangman – dark bass music great percussion, Paul T & Edward Oberon – dnb pioneers, Disclosure – interesting music tidy production.
Are there any key pieces of equipment that you are using to define your sound?
OB-6, Jupiter, System1, Juno60/clones, Serum, Neumann U-87 mic, Universal Audio soundcards and plugins, Moog Prodigy/Sub37.
What would you say some of the challenges artists face today in the music industry?
Getting noticed, as everyone thinks they’re a producer these days.
What does an average session look like?
We usually create lots of presets and pad sounds and collect a pool of sounds together for a few hours, then start jamming with the sounds. It’s a bit of a random process, but sometimes works great though.

Astronauts.
