Warp Records’ (Motion) VHS featured Autechre and Polygon Window and was one of the first successful attempts at fusing futuristic dance music with video art.
To say Warp’s Artificial Intelligence album series has been highly influential to modern electronic music would be an understatement. Between the period of 1992 and 1994, the label released two compilations featuring musicians that would become the pin-up acts of IDM, U.K. rave and techno and synonymous with forward-thinking approaches to music, including Aphex Twin, Autechre, B12 and Speedy J. With the release of the 1994 compilation (Motion), Warp tried to extend this futurism to the realm of video art, and it has now been transferred from VHS to YouTube, so you can enjoy its psychedelic, grainy haze in all its glory once more.
