AI music platform Suno and global artist development company Believe have announced a strategic partnership aimed at creating new licensed AI opportunities for independent artists and labels.
Announced on September 8, the partnership covers participating repertoire from Believe and TuneCore, Believe’s platform for self-releasing artists. Under the agreement, music from participating artists and labels can be incorporated into Suno’s new music models, with participation being optional.
The deal lets music made via Suno’s partner model be distributed by Believe and TuneCore, reversing Believe’s earlier policy blocking Suno tracks. According to both companies, it gives independent artists greater control over their AI participation while opening new creation, distribution, and monetisation paths. Suno CEO Mikey Shulman highlighted that providing artists meaningful choices is central to the deal. On September 9, Suno unveiled Suno v6, built with Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe to enable enhanced creative control and power new opt-in products.
Suno introduced safeguards like audio watermarking, fingerprinting, and download limits to combat fraud and identify generated tracks. These protections extend to Believe and TuneCore distribution. This collaboration signals a shift from training data disputes toward licensed, consent-based, opt-in models providing compensation.
