REVIEW: Favela – Future Visions

This lad from Leeds is fast becoming a hit. Recently signed to Trangressive Records, if you haven’t heard of Favela, as the man himself is known, then you’re missing a trick. His latest EP is expertly produced with intricate percussion and soothing chimes. Favela can easily be compared to Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – and is that a compliment? Absolutely. It could be argued that this time honoured combination of shuffling percussion mixed with soothing vocals has worked well time-and-time-again, but it is the high quality production that sets Favela apart. Play it on your iPod or bust it out on a big rig: it would suit either to a T. Favela put out Future Visions as freebie on Soundcloud; many of the comments include requests for more. If that isn’t a sign that you’re doing things right, I don’t know what is.

Favela’s upcoming EP, released on 29 June via paradYse/Transgressive Records.
