German DJ, producer, and Get Physical Music co-founder Philipp Jung, also known as Forever Jung, has passed away at the age of 55. Jung is remembered as a pioneering force in the electronic music scene, whose innovative spirit inspired countless artists and fans around the world.
After working in A&R during the 1990s, Jung relocated to Berlin in 2002 to co-found the influential label and the musical duo M.A.N.D.Y. with Patrick Bodmer. The pair became famous for their genre-defying club hits, such as ‘Tonite’ and their celebrated collaboration with Booka Shade, ‘Body Language.’ Their work helped shape a distinctive tech-house sound that earned them international acclaim and the title of Label of the Year in 2005.
Following years of rigorous global touring, Jung transitioned into new creative ventures while honoring his history. Alongside managing retrospective projects for Get Physical’s extensive library, he introduced Metaphysical. This album-centric label provided a platform for him to investigate ambient textures, melodic indie-dance, and non-traditional instrumentation beyond the confines of the club scene.
