Oneohtrix Point Never Wins Cannes Festival Award

Experimental musician and producer Oneohtrix Point Never has won the prestigious 2017 Cannes Soundtrack Award for his original score of the film ‘Good Time.’ The movie features a new song collaboration between the artist and rock legend, Iggy Pop.

The film has received an overwhelmingly positive response from critics so far, and prompted a six-minute standing ovation after the Cannes screening. Directed by the Safdie brothers, ‘Good Time’ is a 2017 thriller film that stars Robert Pattinson and the movie’s co-director Ben Safdie.

According to an interview in Rolling Stone, Iggy Pop said of the collaboration, a song titled ‘The Pure and The Damned’: “I had a ball doing that. It was challenging musically, but not unlike that guy that’s singing in that stuff with Jamie and Bobby and Steve.”

Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never has collaborated with numerous artists such as Nate Boyce, Jon Rafman, Takeshi Murata, Jacob Ciocci, and John Michael Boling. In 2014, he supported Nine Inch Nails on their tour with Soundgarden. His debut album with Warp Records, R Plus Seven, was released in 2013 and he released his second Warp LP Garden of Delete in November 2015.
