New York-based electronic duo Ear recently announced their sophomore album, Rumspringa. Scheduled for release on 29 May 2026 via A24 Music, the project is currently shrouded in mystery as no music, artwork, or tracklist has been revealed. Despite the lack of previews, the duo described the LP as a “choose life” record in a press statement. This news follows the arrival of their latest single, ‘Ne Plus Ultra,’ which debuted earlier this month.
Jonah Paz and Yaelle Avtan, the creative forces behind the band, first crossed paths at Bard College in 2024. Their partnership blossomed from a mutual passion for IDM and British post-punk. Paz explained their intuitive collaborative process, noting that they often gauge their musical direction by observing one another’s facial expressions while working.
Reflecting on their origins, Avtan shared with the Face how they quickly discovered a unified artistic purpose. “[Our] sound is so funny because we both realised, after talking about music for two days straight, that we had a vision for a type of music that should be made right now,” she remarked.
Following their 2024 debut single ‘Nerves,’ the pair launched their first full-length album, The Most Dear and the Future, in 2025. That same year, Paz introduced his solo endeavor, Sacred Holes.
