In the follow up to to the shutdown of a Tunisian nightclub after a British DJ played a set which featured the Muslim call to prayer, the DJ in question has been sentenced to a year in prison by a Tunisian court.
DJ Dax J, who played the track as part of his set at the El Guitone nightclub in Nabeul, a venue which was part of Orbit Festival, is however back in Europe. The sentence will expire after five years.
Both the owner and the manager of the club who were taken into custody for “violation against good morals and public outrage against modesty,” have been released. According to Nabeul governor Mnaouar Ouertani, the government will “not allow attacks against religious feelings and the sacred.”
