Melodic and hauntingly dark, the Phon.O rework of Cubenx‘s “Blindfold” (which stunningly focused on the vocal work of Yasmine Hamdan with a refined minimal backdrop for its production) completely transforms the original into an edit that will find itself in the darkest warehouses. The syrupy original has been replaced by a dance rhythm that cuts through viciously, and an ethereal atmosphere that helps balance the vocal harmony of Hamdan. Her voice is still very much a central focus on the edit, but this version allows to balance Cubenx’s syrupy, experimental original to a an entirely different audience.
