Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will not take place in 2027, with organisers announcing that the long-running Tennessee festival is taking a year off to allow its home, known as The Farm, to recover following consecutive years of severe weather. The decision was announced on August 21, with the Bonnaroo team acknowledging that the break was not taken lightly but arguing it would ultimately help secure the event’s future.
The announcement follows a difficult period for the festival, which has faced repeated disruption from heavy rain and storms. The 2025 edition was cut short by severe flooding, while weather again caused major problems in 2026, despite significant investment in improving the site. Organisers had upgraded drainage, added 4.5 miles of new roads and planted 135 acres of grass in an effort to make the grounds more resilient.
This year’s event still saw storms force safety measures including performance cancellations, evacuations and shelter-in-place advisories. Rather than staging another edition before the grounds have fully recovered, organisers have opted to leave the site fallow throughout 2027, describing the hiatus as a “much-needed year off” for The Farm.
While Bonnaroo has not yet announced a lineup or specific plans for its eventual return, the festival has stressed that the decision is intended as a temporary pause rather than a permanent end.
