Casio has introduced the Casiotone CT-FS1, a new keyboard featuring technology that automatically adjusts the notes played to match the harmony of a song in real time. The instrument’s new Feel Sync feature is designed to make playing along to favourite tracks more accessible, allowing beginners to experiment with music without worrying about hitting the wrong notes.
Feel Sync works through a companion app that analyses a song’s chords and melody before adapting the keyboard’s output to fit the music. Users can choose from a catalogue of 70 songs or import their own MP3, WAV and AIFF files. However, streaming services are not currently supported. While the technology takes care of pitch, players remain in control of rhythm, timing and dynamics, allowing them to experiment with their own playing styles.
The keyboard also features a split mode, which divides it into two playing zones. One half can operate with Feel Sync enabled, while the other functions as a conventional keyboard. This allows beginners to play alongside more experienced musicians, while the feature can also be switched off entirely for traditional playing.
The CT-FS1 features a minimalist design in Midnight Black and Alpine White finishes covering its body and 61 keys. Built on the CT-S1 platform, it includes Casio’s AiX sound source with 61 built-in tones—including a German concert grand piano, alongside touch-responsive keys and bass-reflex stereo speakers. Weighing under 10 pounds, it powers via six AA batteries or the included AC adapter. It is available for $399.99 through Casio and authorized US music retailers.
