The Avalanches are set to return with their first studio album in six years. Titled No Bad Memories, the 31-track record will arrive on October 16, 2026 via Modular Recordings, marking the Australian group’s first full-length release since 2020’s We Will Always Love You.
Alongside the announcement, the group have shared a new single, ‘Can’t Get Over Losing You’, featuring Louisiana songwriter and producer Portraits of Tracy. The track arrives with an animated video directed by longtime Avalanches collaborator Jonathan Zawada.
No Bad Memories continues The Avalanches‘ long-running fascination with memory, nostalgia and the cultural debris of everyday life. According to the group, the album explores how advertising, jingles, and commercial sounds become embedded in our memories, examining both their nostalgic appeal and their more insidious influence.
That concept places No Bad Memories firmly within the sample-heavy, collage-based approach that has defined The Avalanches since their landmark 2000 debut, Since I Left You. The new album reportedly incorporates sounds associated with advertising and consumer culture, transforming familiar commercial fragments into something considerably more surreal.
The record’s guest list is similarly eclectic. Confirmed contributors include Jamie xx, Karen O, Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, Prentiss and Portraits of Tracy, with further collaborators expected to feature across the sprawling 31-track project.
No Bad Memories follows a characteristically long-running album cycle for The Avalanches. The group waited 16 years between Since I Left You and 2016’s Wildflower, before returning four years later with We Will Always Love You. The new record therefore represents their shortest gap between studio albums, despite still arriving six years after its predecessor.
