DJ Saint M. Seagull explores the intersection of electronic music and sacred musical tradition on his latest release, ‘Hallelujah,’ a two-track project that pairs an uplifting original composition with the darker, immersive ‘Hallelujah (Enigmatic Techno Remix).’
Released on 31 July 2026, the project moves beyond the conventional single-and-remix format, presenting two distinct interpretations of the same musical idea. While the original embraces elements of dance-pop, electro, gospel house and sacred music, its companion remix rebuilds the material into a slow-burning techno journey.
At the heart of the original track is a melody inspired by the traditional musical formula sung to the word “Hallelujah.” Rather than sampling an existing recording, DJ Saint M. Seagull recreated the motif on an electronic organ, then manipulated it with acceleration and processing, transforming its liturgical origins into something subtle yet recognisable.
The track unfolds with a structure inspired by the progression of a religious service. A sermon-like spoken passage introduces the piece before layers of organ, strings and choral voices gradually build towards a dramatic finale that evokes both the magnificence of sacred ceremony and the emotional release of a festival-closing anthem.
The accompanying ‘Enigmatic Techno Remix’ takes a markedly different approach. Instead of functioning as a club-ready edit, it deconstructs the original composition and reconstructs it as an entirely new listening experience.
Drawing influence from early-2000s progressive house and the deeper, atmospheric sound associated with the Global Underground era, the remix leans into hypnotic repetition, extended transitions and slowly evolving tension. Melodic fragments from the original resurface throughout, reimagined within a darker and more immersive sonic landscape.
